Grief changes shape, but it never ends.

– Keanu Reeves

The five stages – denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance –  are a part of the framework that makes up our learning to live with the one we lost. They are tools to help us frame and identify what we may be feeling. But they are not stops on some linear timeline in grief. – Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

about

The Compassionate Friends of Hamilton and Area offers support for the grief and trauma that follows a child’s death, no matter the age or cause. We cannot fix the pain of losing a child but we can help you to understand and navigate this life changing experience. We recognize that it may be difficult, we invite you to attend a support meeting. Although each person’s journey is different, you’ll be able to meet with other parents who have similarly lost a child.

While we are aware that attending that first meeting may seem overwhelming, we encourage you to join us. There are no costs, there are no expectations. You are not required to speak if you do not feel comfortable in doing so.
